Some interesting info on the RAV4 blogs regarding problems (serious) with Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and other electronic guidance features. Here’s an amusing one.

Q (Varimin): “Is it possible that the system uses your past trips as guidance, meaning does it use the predictive feature and learn from past routes?”

A: (RobertB): “I think it does. My wife's Rav tries to tear the steering wheel out of my hands when I pass Walmart. Come to think of it the LTA is turned off. Weird!”

i wonder if Zach had some kind of health event? heart attack or stroke? Seems a lot of comments lean toward foul play, and maybe that it true. I remember Joe Biden looking for her at some event a short time later. That was creepy.

Do not vax. Not likely another health condition.

Have there been any safety recalls for the 2019 Toyota Rav4?

Can a 2019 Toyota Rav4 be hacked and driven remotely?

I've read (but not confirmed) that Rep Walorski was was working on anti-trafficking efforts.

I've also read that she was working with Anne Heche (who was killed in another mysterious car accidenty in August) on anti-trafficking efforts.

If his car was malfunctioning, wouldn't he turn to the right and onto the shoulder?

If your car is doing funky things, turn off the engine.

The report of the investigation said there were no recalls on that model year. I believe all cars that have computers inside them can be hacked and operated remotely. On the anti-trafficking, I've looked and just don't see much to indicate that this was something she was really digging into and focusing on. But I don't think her staff was ever questioned by anyone in the media. On the car...Yes, I would think he would pull over on the shoulder, unless car can't be stopped and he was afraid of going into the ditch and flipping over.

I'm not familiar with the area, so I wasn't sure. Even if the land alongside the road is flat, pulling off at high speed is very dangerous, though. I hope the families get answers.

Well, if it is an abrupt and weird malfunction, it can be hard to think clearly, eg, turning off the engine or moving to the shoulder.

Tragic story.

Yes, true.

What could it been then?

I think what the main eyewitness said: Either an issue with the vehicle or with the driver. I'm trying to reach a couple more people who would have key information.

From a 2010 Popular Mechanics article:

“Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) is notoriously difficult to diagnose…. in the last decade, there were about 24,000 customer complaints about SUA involving almost every major automaker. The NHTSA investigated fewer than 50.”
