"Few people wanted to speak on the record, but one woman who did told me she is an IU professor and is Jewish, but says she is also pro-Palestinian."
"“Jews were victims of genocide,” she said, slowly and purposefully, “How can they be the perpetrators now? It destroys me. How can it be that a people that has experienced that kind of devastation are willing to practice it on another group of people?”"
She has learned the ways of morality, and I'm severely disappointed in those who both cheerlead the suppression of these peaceful protests (for that is what they are) and in the same turn, justify the bombing of children in the endless military wars overseas.
People are missing this as an opportunity to educate on the dangers of authoritarianism, and taking childish glee-like in schadenfreude at (supposed) liberals being oppressed. Two problems with that mindset: 1) it promotes a power struggle which will destroy freedom of speech if not kept in check and 2) this is a prime opportunity for all sides to unify against tyranny now everybody has had a taste of it.
Neither party is pro-free speech. New York and Texas have implemented the same responses of using jackbooted thugs to silence dissent.
Remember, people's objection wasn't to protests - that is a cornerstone of the First Amendment - it was to violent riots. These are not the same thing and should not be conflated by people.
I will not stoop to cheering their oppression. Freedom of speech is more important than petty disputes. Everyone deserves the right to speak out in public.
Just unclear here: peaceful protests are fine, antisemitism, encampments and calls for the elimination of Israel and death of Jews are not fine? Right? Israel has been a victim of genocide however I'm not seeing a response to the October attack by Hamas as genocidal. It is a war and "proportional" response is not what you do when you are prosecuting a war.
The October 7 attack has been used to justify Israel’s actions but there is no attempt to investigate exactly what happened on that day in Israel. Israeli authorities say no investigation until after the war is completed. Just like Jan 6, there could have been sinister forces behind the attack which authorities do not want exposed. The narrative is being protected against any attempts to question or analyze the events of that day. There are certainly questions that need to be answered: Why was the attack such a surprise to the IDF that a response took all day? Who really sponsored the attack with weapons and funds? Was it allowed to happen to justify a once and for all elimination of an intractable problem? With all the authoritarian narrative control applied to this issue everyone should be somewhat suspicious
It was all a coincidence, especially the part where Israel had every HAMAS leader logged, every HAMAS bunker mapped out and and, WITHIN 12 hrs and a full scale invasion happened within 24 hrs. Oh yes, never mind the fact that the automatic guns on the wall were not working, some men wearing sandals and nikes smashed through an impenetrable wall and cut through a fence, both secured by 100s of meters of sensory devices that would shoot a cat if it wandered anywhere near and for some reason, all the guards were sent off miles way to face off Lebanon !!. Move on, nothing to see here; honest gov.
Funny these kids don't seem to care at all about the genocide taking place right here in the United States. Most of these brainwashed snow flakes have no clue about what is taking place in Gaza. They only know what they have been told but the truth is not what they are getting and that is by design. These so called smart kids are not so smart at all. They are sheep.

What would be a justification for destroying Hamas, and Hamas bunkers and when would be the correct time to deal with terrorists?
Who set up and funded HAMAS ?
